Does your child practice spelling words every night? Do you give a pretest at home to see what words he/she really needs to work on? Does your student sign on to Spelling City to practice words? These are just some ideas to help practice those spelling words!! While there are many expectations in 4th grade for all subjects, keep in mind that spelling is also a grade on the report card! It is very important to practice the words so your child can ace those tests!
Ahhh, and the 1st marking period is quickly coming to an end! I can't believe we're just about done with the first quarter of school! Only 3 quarters until summer :) Just make sure that your child is handing in assignments ON TIME!! Lately, some fourth graders seem to be slipping. On a late assignment, the grade decreases by 10%. Also, any work (besides) tests or quizzes that come home with a score below 70% can be redone (one redo is allowed per week). Take advantage of this opportunity! It can truly make a difference between a B+ or an A-.

www.graebnerpto.com As we've been doing more writing now that the year is starting to take off, I am noticing many students answering questions with phrases or not using capital letters and punctuation. Please know in fourth grade, it is an EXPECTATION that all questions are answered in a complete sentence (unless specifically otherwise directed). Students will be losing points if they do not do this. Fifth grade is a big jump and we need them to all be prepared! Help reinforce this at home so it becomes habit :)
Well the MEAP is officially on its way!! PLEASE make sure you child is getting to bed early and eating a healthy breakfast. We want everyone to be well rested and ready! Make sure you really encourage your child and help build his/her confidence for this big test :) See the Important Dates page for the specific schedule of the MEAP.
