Biographies! This month, students are asked to read a biography (a book about a person's life). The person can be from the present or past. After reading the book, students must complete the poster report. The posters are due Thursday, March 28th. We'll also be showing them off during our end of the month Book Parade (dressing up is optional). CAREFUL - there are no extra posters so please do not misplace it or spill anything on it! Review the rubric with your child so they can earn the most points possible :) Be sure to ask your child about all the fun activities going on at school this month! We're so excited to "Catch the Reading Wave"!!! See the attachments for a calendar of planned events. For every book he/she reads, he/she can fill out a fish to flood our hallways! Return the At-Home Connection by April 8th to receive an exciting prize :)
Permission slips for the field trip to the Michigan Science Center (on Wednesday, May 1, 2013) were sent home yesterday! Permission slips and cost for the trip, $8.00, are due by Thursday, March 7, 2013. Please have your child bring these back to school as soon as possible! If you wish to be a chaperone, indicate so on the bottom of the permission slip :)
WOW!! I am so excited to see how many students have logged into Raz-Kids and have been reading! Raz-Kids is a reading website we just received a subscription to. All fourth graders were introduced to it this past week. While we have just let the kids explore, it is nice to see how excited they are for it! I cannot believe how many of my students have logged in over the weekend to read! Stay tuned for more information regarding Raz-Kids and how it will be implemented into the classroom.
Hope you have a wonderful week off! Enjoy it and we'll see you Monday, February 25th!
There will be a math test this Thursday, the 14th! It is on the decimals unit. A study guide was sent home today so be sure to study so you're ready :)
February Book-It project went home today! Students are to read 20 minutes everyday! Make sure your child is reading a chapter book. Once he/she finishes a book, he/she must do a retelling of the story. If he/she reads more than one book, understand that I only am expecting one retelling - so your child can choose which book he/she wants to do a retelling of. Have fun!
